The 2022 Irish Open Main Event has reached its nine-handed final table and what a final table it is. All nine players have reached the big stage on merit, with each now guaranteed to take home at least €26,630. However, the winner of this record-breaking event pads their bankroll with a most impressive €318,700.
Steve O’Dwyer is the man to catch going into the final table. O’Dwyer has more than $30 million in live tournament winnings, so it is probably easier to list the major titles he has not yet won. The Irish Open is on O’Dwyer’s “to-win” list but victory is far from a forgone conclusion because there are some incredibly talented players in the chasing pack, including two former Irish Open champions.
2022 Irish Open Main Event Final Table Chip Counts
Some 118 players returned to the Main Event action on April 17 but only nine of them had chips in front of them when the curtain came down on proceedings. The likes of Alex Kulev, Chris DaSilva, Anthony Gardner, Paul Newey, Ben Winsor, Daragh Davey, Will Kassouf, and Frank Lillis all bowed out before the final table was set.
Jose Antonio Jaraiz was the final table bubble boy, busting at the hands of the popular Garry Spinks.
Spinks is a regular at Dusk Till Dawn and won his €1,100 Irish Open Main Event seat via a €115 satellite, meaning his Return On Investment (ROI) is already massive. Spinks returns to the action at 12:00 BST on April 18 with 8,275,000 chips, enough for fourth place at the restart. According to the Irish Open live blog, Spinks has promised to donate €100,000 to the tournament’s dealers if he wins! The prize pool is that huge that Spinks would still walk away with €218,700 even if he does give an unprecedented six-figure tip.
2022 Irish Open Main Event Final Table Payouts

2nd – €195,800
3rd – €138,700
4th – €103,600
5th – €81,550
6th – €61,600

9th – €26,630
Popular Scotsman Kyle Maguire sits down in second place as the only player other than O’Dwyer to have an eight-figure stack. Maguire is guaranteed his largest live score regardless of where he finishes in this event.
Justin Boyle, Matthew Bushell, and Mircea Rus occupy places three through five, before you find Patrick Clarke in sixth-place. Clarke won the 2014 edition of the Irish Open Main Event and scooped a cool €250,000. He has plenty of work ahead of him but still has the chance to join Irish legends Colette Doherty, Noel Furlong, Liam Flood, and Mickey Finn as one of the few people who have won this event twice.
The final table’s short stack, Dan Wilson, is another former champion of this long-running event. Wilson’s victory came in 2016. Wilson has 12.2 big blinds at his disposal so has plenty of work ahead of him if he is to become a two-time Irish Open Main Event champion.
